The
Dorcas Gazelle is a small, horned antelope
with splayed hooves. Living primarily on the perimeter of
the Sahara, it is not uncommon for it to venture further
into the desert,
due to its ability to survive for long periods without water.
|
|
An extremely
fast animal, the Dorcas Gazelle can maintain a steady
speed of 30 mph, and has been known to reach speeds as high
as 60 mph. |

Its
primary predators are the Common Jackal, Striped
Hyena, Caracal, and Cheetah,
though its appearance on the Endangered Species List in
1979 is mainly attributed to hunting by humans.
